"Nothing is what it seems..."
Tik, tok, tik, tok. The sound of the clock. Tiny sounds that seemed to reverberate forever on the walls of the quite house. But the silence made it sound like a gunshot on a peaceful alley. As if it brought him into a dirty, loud world rather than a house at the edge of a cliff. It was loud music in his ears rather than a beautiful melody in paradise. Thinking of the word 'paradise' made him flinch. It wasn't the perfect thing in this very situation. It made him remember why he came here in the first place.
His thoughts drifts away remembering. Friends. One of the reasons. He was very careful in choosing friends. He chose those who chose him first. People that are humble enough to makes him laugh and people who cares. It was hard yet good.
He's not actually even sure what friend means. In movies, encyclopedia, sentimental people, a friend is someone you can count on, cares, and loves you no matter what. But in reality, his observation doesn't well on the said definition. It was the worst thing. He'd seen people who just walk up to others and say 'Hi, I also like Star Wars. We're friends now.' as if the word friend is an easy thing to say. For him, a friend is not easy as 1,2,3. It's something that should be valued and expressed not just through words but action as well. People doesn't value the word friend. When they meet someone who is friends with their friends they automatically says that they are already friends yet they know not a single thing about each other. Friendship isn't an obligation, or a responsibility. It is something that is mutual not because of the common things you share but because you feel each other and knows that it isn't just temporary.
His mind focused on the few people that were a mistake. They were the people he trusted, cared, and loved. The 'friends' that took it all away. He knew that things like that could happen. What he didn't know is that it hurts the most. It was a pain inside that is indescribable and almost unbearable. It was the pain that kept him up at night. It was the pain that washed his face with tears until they run dry. It was cold.
The sudden rush of the wind outside brought him back to life. It frightened him thinking that it was the sound of a snake. His subconscious mind had already replaced what the word snake stands for. A tear rolled down from his eyes. He waited for the numbness that the pain had brought. But none. He made a loud exhale and closed his eyes again.
